Advent is a season of waiting—a time to slow down, listen, and prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. Each week, we light a candle and reflect on one of the gifts Christ brings into the world. This year, our theme invites us to hear the message of Christmas through the gentle strains of Silent Night, the hymn sung around the world for generations.
Each Sunday, we will share a short reflection, Scripture reading, lighting of candles on the Advent Wreath, special Children’s storytime, and festive worship music as we move toward Christmas.

Isaiah 9:2 — "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light..."
Our First Sunday of Advent this year: Hope. All Is Calm, All is Bright. We listen to the story of how Silent Night was written, and how Hope shines through the darkness as we light the first candle on our Advent Wreath. Our children’s storytime starts with the book “All is Calm”.

John 14:27 — "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
This week we light the Peace candle, remembering that the peace Jesus brings is deeper than comfort and stronger than fear. Like the gentle melody of Silent Night, His peace quiets our worries and reminds us that God is with us, even now.
As we reflect on the Peace of Christ, we also take time to remember our loved ones who have passed on. This Advent Sunday, we place poinsettias at the front of the church to honor our loved ones, and feel the peace and comfort Christ offers.

Psalms 66:1-2 — “Shout for joy to God, all the earth!
Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.”
Today we light the Joy candle, rejoicing that Christ’s arrival breaks through sorrow with everlasting gladness. Like the shepherds, we are invited to hear the angels sing of joy and run toward the Savior who brings life, light, and unshakable gladness. Our festive worship will include songs of joy and praise!

John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
As we light the Love candle, we celebrate the incredible news that God’s love moved into our neighborhood. Silent Night reminds us that on that holy night, love came near. In Jesus, we find forgiveness, restoration, and a love that never lets go.
We also call this Christmas Sunday, as we LOVE to celebrate the final Sunday of Advent with a festive worship service full of Christmas music! In our church foyer, there will be a Christmas Cookie & Treat Exchange: Bring a plate or tray of your favorite Christmas treat (handmade or store bought) to share with everyone. Build a plate of Christmas goodies to take home with you, or enjoy while you’re celebrating with us! We light the fourth candle, the Love candle, and enjoy storytime.
Children Pre-K through 5th grade are invited to a “Birthday Party for Jesus” downstairs in Kids Church after worship service storytime!

Join us on December 24 for a beautiful evening of worship, candlelight, Christmas music, and a family-friendly children’s storytime. This year’s theme, “Silent Night — The Song of Christmas,” invites us to enter the peaceful beauty of the night Christ was born and experience the hope, peace, joy, and love that He brings.
